Ezmerelda, the famous vampire hunter, sits aloft her carriage not far from Castle Ravenloft holding the reins of her horses. She looks up at the massive dark castle nestled on the mountain side. The place is near impenetrable, but she stands ready to invade if she is needed. Her friends, adventurers like her, have gone inside after being invited in by the lord of the Land, Lord Strahd von Zarovich. This fancy dinner is a disguise on both fronts. They seek knowledge that will aid them to kill him, and he seeks to further toy with them, before finding a way to dispose of them. She waits anxiously, the sky dark, and rain pouring down on her. A bolt of lightning strikes the side of the tower, and she knows that something is wrong. Ezmerelda leaps into action, horses racing forward towards the gates.
