Conan: Adventures in an Age Undreamed Of

Overview

Conan 2d20 or "Conan: Adventures in an Age Undreamed Of", is a low-magic, high-action, fantasy roleplaying game set millennia ago, in the Hyborian Age. Immersed in an exotic land, strewn with ancient ruins, Stygian jungles and frozen wastes - where the heroes are daring, the treasures fleeting and the horrors Lovecraftian. Magic is shunned (but present nonetheless) and sorcerers are vilified; their dark machinations and obscene rituals have earned them fearful reputations and, often as not, a swift burning at the stake.

Description

The players can create competent and cunning characters from the start (best done with the online character generator - below) and immerse themselves in the joy of battle, tactical play and clever use of the environment. Teamwork is strongly encourage via archetypal characters, powerful talents and the use of shared Momentum and Doom resources, that can be used to spectacular effect or perilous misadventure.

System Overview & Key Features

Momentum and Doom points are shared resources that accumulate during action scenes and battles. They are spent to activate powerful talents and abilities, which allow the characters to perform outrageous feats and spectacular displays - or imperil them just when they thought they were safe.
Displays are a methods of intimidation, varying techniques that enable a character to demoralise their foes and strike fear into the hearts of man and beast alike. Win the war before it starts!
Wounds and healing mechanics that allow character to shrug off scrapes but still significantly suffer from serious injuries until healed.
Skills and talents related to them that cater for most possible situations and allow for daring escapades and mighty battles.

Most men in the Hyborian Age die nameless. A few take what they want with steel, wit, or something darker and carve their names into legend. I’m looking for 2–3 more players for a paid Play-by-Post Conan 2d20 campaign. The campaign will be tailored to the characters and their ambitions, wether that is plunder, power, revenge or something else entirely. Expect a tone based on Howard's stories. Actions matter, choices have consequences, and nothing is handed to you. Async but frequent pace (minimum of 1+ post per day), run on Discord and a virtual tabletop for maps etc. Fee is 10€/week

I'm Mark! I'm a 50-something tabletop enthusiast. Been playing and GMing since my early teens. I love both traditional board and card games and RPGs. I'm a video game developer professionally and a hobbyist game designer on the side. I enjoy running RPGs in multiple genres and systems. My current go-to "official" system is Index Card RPG, and I have two homebrew systems in development. I'm not a huge fan of D&D because of the cost, heavy ruleset, and recent direction in terms of subscription model and social posturing. I currently GM semi-regularly for my son and daughter and their friends -- all in their early twenties. I'm comfortable running games for any age group. My sessions are a mix of action and role-playing and strictly PG-13. I'm interested in finding more groups for either board/card gaming or fantasy, science-fiction, or superhero role-playing. I prefer in-person play to VTTs but I don't rule out the latter. Would love to find some mixed-age groups in the Broomfield area for semi-regular sessions (sometimes we crunch at work, so I can't always guarantee availability). Feel free to reach out if you have similar interests!

This is the weirdest dating site and I'm not sure why I was invited... At least you can see my pigtails in my PfP. Ahem...  I'm a creative, resourceful role-player with a questionable sense of humour. Heh, just kidding...  I'm particularly looking for Conan 2d20 games. I prefer low magic systems where intelligent roleplay counts.  I'd be interested in trying out a few other systems too (i.e. Draw Steel, PbtA, TOR and T2K) but I'm far too broke to pay for them. The best things in life are free... Like Valentine's Day, escaped madmen and STDs?  o.0

Hi  I live in Gran kommune, one hour north of Oslo in Norway.  I have been playing and GMing since the 1980s. I believe that i am a suportive player. I some times struggle with atttention, so I prefere shorter sessions, especially online.   My GM style is balanced, but with a tendencie for "Action bias". I am not strong on "tactical combat"  and optimal character-builds, and prefere creativity, rulings over rules and theater of the mind. (Even thogh I own four 3d printers and to much terrain and miniatures :) )  I prefere to run scenarioes and campeigns with some investigation, exploration and mystery over classic dungeon crawls.

Owlbear Rodeo

Virtual tabletop (VTT)
English
Free
Owlbear Rodeo is a "no-frills," browser-based virtual tabletop that prioritizes speed and ease of use above all else. Originally launched in 2020 as a simple image-sharing tool, it evolved into version 2.0 (and the 2024/2025 "Warp Core" engine updates), transitioning to a cloud-based subscription model while maintaining its "pick-up-and-play" spirit. It is the premier choice for GMs who prefer theater-of-the-mind play or quick tactical skirmishes without the heavy automation of larger platforms. Description Owlbear Rodeo is the digital equivalent of a dry-erase battle mat. It does not try to be a video game; instead, it provides a shared canvas where you can drop a map, throw down some tokens, and start rolling dice in under a minute. It is famous for requiring no player accounts—the GM simply creates a room and sends a link. While it has added advanced features like dynamic fog and extension support, it remains the most lightweight and mobile-friendly VTT on the market. System Overview & Key Features Zero-Friction Access Players do not need to register or sign in to join a game. By simply clicking a URL, they are instantly transported to the map with full access to their tokens. This makes it the undisputed king for one-shots, convention games, and introducing new players to the hobby. The Warp Core Engine The 2024/2026 "Warp Core" update introduced high-performance GPU rendering. This allows the browser to handle massive 144-megapixel maps and animated backgrounds with zero lag, even on older laptops or mobile devices. Modular Extension System Rather than bloating the base software with features, Owlbear uses "Plug-and-Play" extensions. You can toggle on a 5e Initiative Tracker, a Dice Roller, or a Clock tool only when you need them, keeping the interface clean and distraction-free. Pixel-Accurate Dynamic Fog The "Fog of War" tool allows GMs to hide sections of the map with incredible precision. You can use brushes to reveal specific corridors or use "Cut-out" shapes to simulate light sources, all of which syncs across every player's screen in real-time. Multi-Device Syncing Owlbear is built from the ground up for touchscreens. It is the only major VTT that feels natural on a tablet or phone, making it a popular choice for "hybrid" games where players use their devices at a physical table. Persistent Custom Rooms Paid tiers allow GMs to claim a unique, permanent URL (e.g., owlbear.rodeo/your-campaign). This room stays open 24/7, allowing players to check the map or move their tokens between sessions without the GM needing to be online.
